K Caterpillars

Kindergarten Caterpillars
We love to connect Art with Literacy.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is one of our favorite books!

First, we drew and painted food for the caterpillar to eat. He's VERY hungry!

Our Kindergarten students love to paint! We focused on choosing realistic color choices.

Next, we created the caterpillar. We were excited to sponge paint 4 circles.

After a lot of cutting and gluing our caterpillar was formed!

Finally, we added details such as eyes and feet using a sponge brush.

Family STEAM

Family STEAM Night
*Science,*Technology, *Engineering, *ART, *Math

We loved Family Steam Night

Students and parents were excited to attempt a variety of STEAM challenges.

Some new challenges added this year included the Cage A Dinosaur Challenge and the Build with Packing Peanuts Adventure.

The marble run was a big hit!

How many pennies can you pile in the boat without it sinking?

Who built the tallest index card tower?

The build-a-chair activity is a great STEAM challenge. Your chairs are very unique!

 Here's our STEAM Team!

The volcano station was very popular!

Family Character Night

Family Character Reading Night

We had a great time at Family Character Reading Night!

We loved dressing up as our favorite storybook characters!

Mr. Giannetto read the book Mouse Paint and created the secondary colors during a fun food coloring experiment.

Valentine's Day ART

Young School is ready for Valentine's Day!

2nd Grade Crayola Model Magic Hearts
Small Group PreK Love Penguins

More information can be found on my Art classroom Facebook page:

These heart faces have so much personality! Art Teacher Cassie Stephens introduced me to the artist Chris Uphues. My students loved his fun and bright artwork!

PreK students enjoyed printing with plastic cups as well as bubble wrap to create a winter snowstorm.

These adorable clay hearts will definitely bring a smile to your face!
We painted the model magic clay with tempera paint and added the faces with construction paper. I love the bows and eyelashes!

The hearts are inspired by artist and designer Chris Uphues. His work is super fun! Please check out his website

This seasonal project is a great way to combine winter penguins with Valentine's Day.

The penguin's arms are only glued at the base so they can reach out for a hug.

Family Art Night

Family Art Night: Vincent van Gogh Sunflowers

Students and families created artwork together during the first Family Art Night of the school year.

The sunflower paintings were created using tempera paint and oil pastels.

First, we drew a vase filled with sunflowers. It was great to see the sunflowers depicted in all stages of life from a bud to a wilted bloom. The students also used the provided artificial sunflower still-life to view sunflowers from a variety of angles.

Next, we used oil pastels to trace our drawing. We also colored the background using blue and white oil pastels.

Finally, the painting began! It was wonderful to see the variety of work created by students of various ages and ability levels.

I'm so proud of these paintings! They are all very unique.
