Art & France

How I spent my summer vacation...
I spent ten days in France this summer and saw a lot of fantastic ART! 🎨🇫🇷

One of my favorite days was a trip to Giverny. I loved walking around Monet's gardens and ponds. His home and studio were really amazing to tour!

Monet's studio was piled high with his paintings.

I loved the Calder sculpture in front of the Centre Pompidou

Some of my favorite works from the Pompidou were from Picasso, Matisse, and Rothko.

A visit to the Fondation Louis Vuitton was a great day trip. This modern art museum, designed by Frank Gehry, is really breathtaking to see.

Being a big fan of indigenous art I was looking forward to checking out the
Musée du Quai Branly
The museum is broken into four different regions and did not disappoint.
The African Art section was my favorite.

These huge African instruments were a highlight of my visit.

This was my first visit to the Musée de l'Orangerie. This Impressionism museum is the perfect size! Just the right amount of art so as not to be overwhelmed. The rooms featuring Monet's Water Lilies are a must see! You're surrounded by the large masterpieces.

The beautiful Musée d'Orsay was a great museum to see many of Vincent van Gogh's most iconic pieces.

Below is some street art I stumbled upon in and around Paris.

I can't wait to share my photos and stories with my art students this school year!
