Color Bugs 

1st Grade 

 First grade students love to mix colors! 

They can make the secondary colors. 

Red + Blue = Purple 

Red + Yellow = Orange 

Blue + Yellow = Green 

What are the primary colors?

 The students enjoyed being scientists by completing the food coloring experiment in art class. We also incorporated music into the art program by listening and singing along to color mixing songs.

Elephants in the Wild 

Kindergarten Owlets

Ripped Paper Owlets 

Kindergarten 

First, each student drew a large oval to create the owlet's body. Then, they drew ears and wings. Next the students ripped paper and glued it down to make feathers for the owlets. Finally, details were added such as eyes, feet, and a beak. 

1st Grade: Owls in Progress

Clay Owls 

1st Grade 

Art in Progress: 

To create the owl each student made a ball. Next, they flattened the ball to look like a pancake. Then the sides of the pancake were flopped over to look like wings and the top was pulled down to form the head. Finally, details were added such as eyes, a beak, and feet.

The students did a wonderful job painting their owls!

2nd Grade: Elephants in Progress

 Awesome 2nd Grade Elephants

ART in Progress

Each student drew an elephant step-by-step. Next, they traced the drawing with black marker. Finally, they painted over it with water. They watched as the marker bled and smeared to create a wonderful texture and color for the skin of the elephant. Next week they will cut out the elephant and create a background. 

The students can choose to create a circus background or a nature background.

The elephants look great walking in the wild!
