The flowers are very large as the students pretended to zoom in with a camera to get an up close look at each petal. Many of the flowers are touching the edges of the paper and extending beyond the boundaries.

First, the students drew a large, up close flower. They tried to touch the edges of the paper and were encouraged to "draw big". Next, they painted each flower using watercolor paints and focused on making realistic color choices. Finally, each flower was cut out and glued to a blue sky.

1st Grade O'Keeffe facts:

1. Georgia grew up on a farm.

2. She loved to paint large, up close flowers as well as sea shells, mountains, and even animal bones.

3. Georgia loved nature.

4. Georgia O'Keeffe lived to be 98 years old.

Happy Mother's Day!

Kindergarten Clay Butterflies

Kindergarten students loved using Crayola Model Magic to create a great Mother's Day gift. Each butterfly was made by following step by step directions. First, we formed 4 balls to create the wings. Next, a piece of clay was rolled out to make the body of the butterfly. Finally, the butterfly was painted and attached to a piece of wood.
