1. Found Object Snowman

Build a snowman with various objects you can find around the house!

Step 1: Pick three plates and collect an array of objects from your house including small toys, kitchen items, office supplies, and more!

Step 2: Identify parts of a snowman and sort the items into categories such as eyes, noses, mouths, hats, scarves, arms, buttons, and such.

Step 3: Create a snowman using the objects. Move the items around to see what works best! Have fun!

Step 4: Draw a picture of your snowman.

Step 5: Return all items where they belong.

2. Disguise a Stuffed Animal

Challenge: Create a disguise for a stuffed animal. Use construction paper, scissors, and tape to turn your stuffed animal into a different animal.

Step 1: Choose a stuffed animal from your collection and decide how you can disguise it. Maybe turn your teddy bear into a bird or your doll into a rabbit.
Step 2: Begin to cut out various items and tape them onto your stuffed animal.
Step 3: Quiz your family and see if they can guess who is in disguise.

Modifications and Additional Activities
 1. Use clothes from another toy and repurpose them.
 2. Sketch a drawing of your finished work.
 3. Compare and contrast your toy before and after its transformation.

3. Build a Found Object Winter Wonderland, Snow Castle, or Snow Fort

Collect an array of white items from around the house and use them as blocks to build a Snow Castle.

Suggested materials: white items from around the house such as mugs, cups, tissue paper, paper towels, cotton balls, or anything white

What type of building did you make? Is it a house, school, skyscraper, or castle?

Did you make doors and windows?

Who lives inside the building?

4. Found Object Plate Portraits

Build a portrait with various objects you can find around the house!

Step 1: Pick a plate and collect an array of objects from your house including small toys, kitchen items, office supplies, and more!
Step 2: Identify parts of the face and sort the items into categories such as eyes, noses, mouths, hair, ears, and such.
Step 3: Create a portrait using the objects. Move the items around to see what works best! Have fun!
Step 4: Take a photo so I can see your creative one-of-a-kind portraits!
Step 5: Return all items where they belong.

5. Origami Paper Dogs

Materials: paper, pencil, crayons markers

Step 1: Begin with a paper square and fold it in half to create a triangle. Please make crisp, clean folds and line up the corners of the paper.
Step 2: Bend down the top triangles to create the ears of the dog. Push them down hard. Fold back a small portion at the bottom to make the chin.
Step 3: Draw the dog’s face and add details such as a bow, spots, a collar, a bone, and fur.
Step 4: Color the dog.
